Does anyone know why all of a sudden everyone but me is getting this error when trying to open my database?

"Missing or broken reference to the file msadox.dll version 2.8"

I have both the FE and BE (Access 2000) on a network drive with a link to a batch file which notes what version of Access the user has (2000 or 2003) and opens the db.

It has been working great until yesterday when everyone started seeing this message. When I open it up (my backup copy and the one on the network just like they do) I have no problems, so I don't get why this would happen.

I know that I will probably need to go around and fix this reference on everyone's machine but would like to have a better understanding of why it would happen in the first place.

Our company is in the process of migrating our Outlook email to a different server and there have been some strange things happening to other programs for many people, could this be just another casualty of that migration?

Thanks for any help.

I would find it hard to believe that an exchange migration would have such an adverse effect on Access. Have there been any updates on the machines encountering problems that has not occurred on yours? Do you have the exact same version of Access as they do?
I ran into an almost identical problem not long ago, but it involved new PCs encountering the error. We ended up registering it on the new machines and it worked fine.

No, I have migrated my machine and had a couple of issues with other programs (dll's went missing). That's the only common thing that has happened in the last few days around here. I did just have one person say they could get into it with no problems, though and she has migrated as well. The database is in Access 2000 and some people are using 2000 and some 2003, thus the batch file to determine what they have prior to opening (this has been working great over the last few months).

Thanks for your help with this.

Got this fixed (I think) but don't understand how. If someone has an answer I would appreciate it. I went to just one user's computer and unchecked the above Missing reference and left it at that and now everyone's seems to work fine. My question is, since we are using the same FE (I'm working on changing that) why would some users not have a missing reference and some would?

Thanks

The reference that was missing must not be needed for the user would not be able to use the function that needed that reference when you deselected the missing reference.

Thanks for the reply-I did figure out that the reference wasn't needed-don't know why I had it checked, but was just curious as to the "randomness" of the error.

Thanks again
