So my database has user level security on it, and now I need to transfer it from my machine to its final location on the network drive. However I realised that I cannot just move the secured shortcut, workgroup file, front end (for others to copy) and backend onto the network as this does not work. So how would I go about moving my database?

You should be able to

1. Move the backend to the server.

2. Move the mdw security file to the server.

3. Move the frontend to a location for your master (you might want to use the free auto update enabling tool on my site for future updates - be sure to use the one for secured databases).

4. Create a new shortcut for use in opening this database. A free tool (Headway Shortcut Builder) makes it ultra easy.

5. Open the frontend holding the shift key and then relink the backend to the frontend using the Linked Table Manager.

That sounds like the correct parts that need to be deployed.

Where are you placing these different files?
Front end?
Back end?
Workgroup File?

Did you relink the tables to the new back end location?

What issues are you having?
