In the past I've been able to design programs at home using Access 2002, and then bring them to work via a thumb drive for general use at work.

Lately at work I'm getting an error right after copying the database from the thumb drive to the workstation at my job saying, "this is a read only version". Thumb drives must be encrypted, which mine is.

The Access version at work is 2003.

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

right click the database file in windows, and see if it is set to read only

If gemma-the-husky suggestion does not work, I'd check with your IT guys at work, because they may have beefed up security. I have seen a similar thing when we migrated from Office 2000 to 2003. It was a windows security setting and it used to apply to databases copied from 'unsecure' sources, such as USB drives and even CD's.

From memory, when you looked at the properties screen from Windows Explorer, you would see an 'Unblock' button, which worked for just that database, but there was a group security setting that needed tweeking to resolve it for all databases.
