Anybody know where Access Viewer is hidden? I can find it. Secondly will I be able to put the viewer on the same CD with a db I want to distribute?

It is not called a viewer because it also allows data update. It is called the Access Runtime engine. You can download it from the MS download site.

You can use the built in packaging wizard to distribute the application along with the runtime engine. This wizard creates an .exe that users double-click on to do the installation. Go to File/Save & Publish and choose the Package & Sign option.

Hi Pat,
thanks for answering. Just read a little about runtime. seems like I have to have Access Developer to use runtime. Is that correct?
Ps stay out of the now. I was there for the blizzard of 78.

Only for pre '07 versions of Access. From '07 onward the runtime and packer are free add ins. The developers kit is not required.

I have download runtime and evidently I have in my system already because it said up change settings or something like that. How do open/or use it.

Dick;
Here is a good link to look at for RunTime.

I too, suffered the Blizzard of '78. Was living in Boston, and got stuck in Providence for a week. National Guard came to dig us out.

I was there for the blizzard of 78.
It took me 4 hours to drive the 8 miles from my office in Bridgeport to my house. I took home one of my coworkers because he lived much further away and ended up keeping him for 3 days. it was a memorable storm:eek:

Pat
Blizzard of 78 I was in Cambridge MA and had just come out from calling on a customer around 11:30 am. I was going to catch some lunch and it had started snowing. No big deal. The radio said there was a tie up because of the snow on I-495, south of Cambridge. I decided I better head home to Woonsocket, RI about 50 miles. 6:30 that night I reached home. My garage was 25 feet away, straight up. Took six teenagers to my little Plymouth Duster into the garage. There it stayed for a week, 64 inches of snow in 24 hours. Pat as they say in the Ad’s “Come on Down” BTW if you do need a place to stay for a few days, like maybe you are looking at houses <G> I have a spare bedroom.

I may go to Sarasota in February to play bridge for a week - http://web2.acbl.org/tournaments/Ads/2013/02/1302058.pdf - I have a friend who lives in town so I can camp there. Then either the week before or the week after, I'll be in the St. Pete area looking for an apartment building to buy. I will also go to Orlando to visit my brother unless I can get him to come to St. Pete. I think Belleview is probably not in the cards for this trip but thanks for the offer:)

Are driving or flying? I have a old Navy buddy that lives in Melrose, MA that comes down every year. He takes the train.

I take the train whenever I go to NY, Philadelphia, or DC. It is far better than driving as long as you don't need to do a lot of travelling around once you get there. In the old days, there used to be commuter flights out of Sikorsky Airport to all the big East Coast cities but not any more. There's some out of New Haven but having to drive further than that defeats the whole purpose for cities less than 6 hours away by car. I don't see any benefit in taking the train as far as Florida. It costs more than flying and takes a long time and it is almost as uncomfortable as flying. Maybe I'm just old and grumpy but I don't travel well anymore. I hate being treated like a criminal. But since I'm not willing to drive, I have no option but to fly much as I hate it. I just have to convince myself I want to go more than I hate to fly:)

I have only taken a train one time in my life. When I came home from boot camp in 1960 I spent so much money on wine, women, and song, I did not have enough money to fly to my next duty station which was Memphis, TN, so I had to take a train from Boston. I slept in a seat and my mom packed me peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to eat along the way. It took me three and a half days.

My friend, however says him and is wife get a sleeper and dine in the lounge. He says that it takes him a little longer but he hates the long waits at the airlines checking in and the wicked traffic getting in to Logan, and getting out of Orlando. He says he rather be able to walk around and also se the scenery instead of clouds. He says it cost him about the same amount of money. I travel mostly by RV, but if I have to I still fly as three days is too long for my usual tight schedules. The reason I ask however that is if you were driving and you need a stopover before you got to your final destination, my house would be available. If your travel mode changes let me know. Be warn, however you would have to endure my ego trip with some of my Access DB]s.

I took a sleeper from New Haven to Montreal once. I never got a wink of sleep. I woke up at every crossing. It was 14 very unpleasent hours. Nothing but jerking and squealing breaks. I always dreamed about taking the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul but the trip to Montreal kind of soured me on long distance train travel.
