I'm trying to gain expertise creating graphs from my Access data. I'm using Access 2000. At this point I would like to generate a line graph with 2 axises (x & y), and have multiple items for the third item in the graph. Across the bottom I would like the workday broken down into half hour segments. This is the 1st axis. Up the side I would like values broken down in segments (.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, etc.) This is the 2nd axis. Then in this line graph I would have multiple colored lines to cover the 3rd item, in my case, the third item is people. Each person is a different color.
Do I use tables for the data input to the graph, or do I just create a report, and convert that data to the garph?
Do I have to export the data from my report to Excel to get what I want, or can it be done in Access?
Is there a good manual I can use for reference / tutorial / instruction? I need specifices on the reference manual most of you recommend. The MS Access manuals just don't have the detail I need for many of my projects. If you're successful using a manual, let me know.

bill,

i've found that access is incredibly poor at producing graphs...i tend to creat queries with the required info and then export it to excel to generate graphs. I'm pretty sure access could do what you want but i've never got into using access for graphs...

bill, i also export most of my charts to excel for ease of formatting etc, then just to complicate matters I link excel back to my access reports for customer distribution.

however, if you download these sample access 97 graphs from msn, they also work in access 2000, and might be what your looking for.

Paul B.,
Thanks for the link to the "Graph Manager" .mdb. I have yet to dig into it more than a scan to see what's there, but it looks like it will be very helpful to me in the future dealing with the "graph" issue.:)
