My access DB is split into a front and back end - the application runs fine as an MDB file for all user groups.

If I then generate an application MDE file - I get the following error :

'You don't have the necessary permissions to use the 'MSysModules2' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.'

(If I log in (as the same user) to the MDB version of the file - no error displays....????)

Why is this happening?
Ahy ideas would be gratefully received as this is the only thing stopping me from going live with the MDE. app.

Regards

Have you compiled it, before making the MDE?

Otherwise it sounds like a security issue on the folders that you might be using the files in? Not sure what security you have employed, or maybe your administrators if it is not you?

My wording wasnt too exact :

"If I then generate an application MDE file / then run the MDE file using a std. user login (not admin) - I get the following error :

'You don't have the necessary permissions to use the 'MSysModules2' object. Have your system administrator or the person who created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you.'

Yet if I log in (as the same user) to the MDB version of the file - no error displays....????

There are no access restrictions on the folders where the DB/MDE files are located and the code compiles fully. I am the administrator..... any other ideas?

(Interestingly enough - I am trialing an upgrade to Access 2003 on another machine and this error does not appear.....)

What operating system are you having these problems? And what format is the Hard disk that it is on, sounds like NTFS?

I am running it on Windows XP (SP2) - on an NTFS drive......

I know of one other guy that is having the same problem with the Access 2003 runtime (same app runs ok as an mdb but as a mde in the runtime there are issues). He is supposed to do some more testing this weekend and get back and post his results.

Hi GUID022,

Have you in the past played with your system.mdw or created a new *.mdw for this file? Is it possible to grab a default one and try it with it instead of an adjusted one if it has been adjusted?

Wait to hear back.

Regards
Rob

Import all [but not any of the system MSys* objects] of your db objects into a brand new access database file.

Will give this a go - thanks for the tip.
