Hello everyone,

Can I ask you to critique my database sample? I'm working on a multilingual database and I'm trying to figure out how to do it best. I found a couple of ideas on this forum but nothing that would help me completely. I uploaded a sample of what i have come up with.

Just need some feed back to see if this would do the job or if it would be the best way to do it.. Your critique and/ or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Anyone....

Hello All,

I don't want to sound like I'm pushing for it :p , but I was just curious if anyone has had a chance to take a look at the sample database. I'm not expert at Access and I would like to hear your honest opinion if this would be a fair good way of doing it a multilingual way or if you have recommendations on how to do it best. Or any coment, insult, frustration release or punch bag write it down here! :D

Your critisism and feed back is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

René

I have tried the multilingual path before and it is quite difficult to keep up with all the features being translated into the end users working language. I did do it similar to how you are heading, with the users language part of the users security profile. I had their name, password, language and responsibilities on one table. I built two copies of all the forms and reports corresponding to the language E or F english or francais...
it is difficult but is workable, probably a wee bit more difficult adding espanol...

Hi Fifty2One,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. The database I'm working is meant for users that will use it in only one language (their own) so it will not be a simultaneous multilingual group but rather an application that will be used by a group of French sepaking people and potentially a group of Italian speaking people and maybe a group of Russian and so on and so on. So i was looking for a way to allow the group to translate the field names to their own language to utlilize it.

So I thought if i create a table of languages that they can if they wish delete all languages and then just enter all their fields names in their language, but wanted it to be an easy task to enter new field names with out knowing much programing. so they could enter the language table and translate all fields to their language and utilize the database.

You think it would be fine as I think or you think it may be better way??

Thank you again for your time.

René
