I don't know if this is talked about on the forum anywhere. I don't know how to search for it, what words to use.
I have an Access 2010 database with addresses in it. I have separate fields for the street name the number and additions. But when making a report I have to make the street name field wide to be able to show all street length. But on shorter street names it looks ugly that the numbers are so far apart from the name. Is it possible to have just one field point to more fields in the database so this gap isn't there anymore?

Sure; at its simplest a textbox with a control source like:

=[Number] & " " & [StreetName]

I Tried that but that doesn't work. It gives a green triangle in the corner of the textbox and when viewing the report it gives "#Type!" instead of the Streetname and Number. Both fields in the database are normal text fields.

What exactly is your expression? Can you post the db here?

=[tblOverige].[Straatnaam] & " " & [tblOverige].[Huisnummer]

Then when opening the Report it shows a small popup Parameter Value. When I leave it blank it shows either #Name or #Type.
I have tried with and without table name in front of the field name. With a period and with an explanation-mark. It just won't do what I want.

And are those fields in the record source of the report?

Yes they are. It should work. But just doesn't. I can show both fields separately. Just not combined like this.

Can you post the db here, or a representative sample? This is commonly done, and should not be this difficult. One thing just came to mind; make sure no control (text box, etc) has the same name as either field. Sometimes that will confuse Access.

It finally worked. The controls did have the same name. Access creates those names automatically when adding fields. Not very handy then. :)

Yes, one of my pet peeves. Glad we got it sorted out.
