Hi everyone,

I want to create a form in MS access for General Journal input for an accounting software. Problem is that my client required a form in which he can input as many Debits and/or credits as he likes, for one transaction on one form. For example it may be 2 debits and 4 Credits in one transaction. Its a simple one table entry with fields; TrNo (Transaction Number), Date, Type (Debit or Credit), Amount, and Narration (for details of transaction). Out of these field TrNo, Date & Narration will be same for all debits & credits in one transaction.

Can anyone help me !! Please....

Thanks for your reply JHB. I go through the link you attached but the problem is that I have one table and one form in which I need to input multiple records until the user wants. I am not that good in MS access so please tell me, is it possible to create main form and subform with one table.

Regards

Yes and No - but the hurdle isn't that, but the way you organize your data, therefore I gave you the link Database Normalization and Table Structure.
You need two tables:
One table with these fields.
TrNo, Date & Narration will be same for all debits & credits in one transaction.
And one table with these fields + the link field which is the transaction number, (TrNo).
Type (Debit or Credit), Amount
So the fields in table two would be:
TrNo, Type, Amount

Thanks for your quick response. OK I understand this table issue but my main problem is how to design form which accepts multiple records on one form. Can u please provide me such form as example.

Thanks

I've made a sample for you in the attached database, open the form "MainForm".

I've made a sample for you in the attached database, open the form "MainForm".

I understand that what are you trying to do, and i have done this before six months, using sub forms in ms access is very cheep and not professionally looking forms,
i have made a unbound form to enter the transactions and post that values to multipurpose entries table by using append queries,
i am working on database and i am now able to sell to a company that's why i am sorry to say that i can't give you a sample but you can look at Screenshot of form and table,

Note: In future i will launch my own website that will gives you all the common questions asked by the programmers, and i will gives you solutions for common problems like,
How to reset Custom counter?
How to make opening closing Each day?
Functional Keys to perform DOCMD events ?
How to make SOD and EOD system in your database?
How to make complete login system that keep login history, change password, user level?

all these questions and lot others i have just done everything in a simpler way, and self-developing.

i am not expert of MS-Access but i Know the Programmers thinking that what they trying to do, today visit this forum after few months and i see that all the problems i have solved now i have to tell others. All the mentioned questions i have done, you can look in screen shot that after date change document number start from zero. and much more.
