Hi All,

I have a question about multiple databases with different workgroups on one system. Currently, I have 2 different workgroups in operations, which have been working fine until both databases were put onto the same system. Now, I can only get into one of the databases. When I try to get into the other one a "User Permission Error" appears.

Is it possible to set up the Access to allow me to switch between both of the databases without deleting anyone of the workgroups?

Thanks for any input you can give.

A little more detail is needed to help.

Are you using one workgroup for 2 databases? I don't think that this can be done. You will need 2 separate workgroups.

Are you accessing the db's through a shortcut that loads the appropriate workgroup? If not, once you log into a db you are set to that workgroup until you manually change it.

Post back and I'll try to help.

Thanks for the response.

There are 2 individual workgroups set up, one database each. Both workgroups were built by different people. I have installed these two groups on the same computer. I can only run the first database installed, when I try to run the second database I get a Permission Error. The databases are not linked to each other.

Is it possible to run both of the databases on the same computer? A method to switch between workgroups maybe.

Thanks for your help...

Each db must have its own shortcut to start it. The shortcut should be like the following.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "location of database\database.mdb" /WRKGRP "location of workgroup\workgroup.mdw"

This will start Access, load the database and set it to the appropriate workgroup.

If you post your directory structure for the db, db file name, directory structure for the security files, security file names I'll set the shortcuts for you if you are unsure how.
