After several years not doing things I am updating a 2007 database. I added a combo box which works fine together with calculated expression from the combo box result. The box returns a field Funds from table members and the calculated expression is =[Funds].[column](1). This brings up the #Name? problem. There is a pre-existing combo box on the form with field Group in table members displaying =[Group].[column](1) which works fine. I have checked that everything in the properties of the two things look the same and the relationship diagram seem the same also. What have I forgotten over the years?

Hard to say but here's a few things to check

  1. That the name of the combo box is Funds
  2. That the row source of the Funds combo box has at least two fields
  3. That the Column Count property of the combo box is at least 2

Also note that the index of the Column property of zero based, i.e. =Funds.Column(1) displays the second column of the row source and I'd get rid of the brackets around the column. I've seen cases where brackets round control properties cause problems.

I was just about to post that I had found the problem. It was as you suggest that the name of the combo box had not been set to Funds. Getting old and stupid. Thanks
