Need help with using short cuts

Hello everyone,

I followed the methods described in the paper, "How I Use Security with Microsoft Access", and right now, Access is asking for a password to open every database and workgroup file. I also have a shortcut created to use the correct workgroup and it, too, is asking for a password. However, in the case of the shortcut file, the password is not accepted.

I need your help. If you can, please send thoughts on how to to fix the problem.

a) which access version are you using?

b) if you just open access, without opening any database, do you get asked for a password at that point?

c) what workgroup did you create - it will be called something.mdw
you didnt just modify system.mdw, did you

If you've created a new workgroup file (mdw) you probably forgot to rejoin your original system.mdw.

Use the new file for that 1 database only.

1) The Access version that I have is 2002.
2) I am not asked for a password when I open Access without opening any database.
3) I created a workgroup called "sharedatabase.mdw" and it is saved in a shared drive.

I tried to rejoin the original system.mdw by going into Tools, Security, workgroup administrator. After I successfully join the group, I am still asked for a password when I open a database.
