On a network using Access 2003 (the users have runtime) I have linked Excel spreadsheets, these are set up for shared working. Yet when the db is opened by 2 users the 2nd one can't open the form that is linking to the spreadsheet, it is saying that the .xls is the problem.
If the spreadsheet is opened by another user, the db can still open and use it, if then the spreadsheet is closed on reopening it "Can't access !!!.xls" message.
Does Access lock the .xls and is there a work round.
The reason for linking to a spreadsheet is as the users have runtime access and this allows them to mess around with budgets type data in excel but use access for their queries etc.
