Hi I better introduce myself first. Stewardg for Greg I am Australian, I live in Melbourne I work as a bookkeeper for a trucking firm. My main interest is to interface an access database to MYOB accounting the hard way via import export as we do not have the cash yet to buy the ODBC driver from MYOB.

Our interest in this project started when we decided to go to multi user MYOB and found that MYOB had sold us a pup so to speak in its new and wonderful Vsn 2011 (plus) as it was than and that they had failed to release a compatible multi user (premier) version and were not planning on doing so in the near future.

So we were forced to go back to the previous version (19.7) for the functionality that we required.

As a result we used access as a way of converting our data from the latest vsn to the older version because as we all no all things in software are upward compatible but to go back is impossible.

Anyway I am looking forward to the opportunity to communicate to all and hope that there are people out there that have been through it all before.

Hi Greg,

I guess you learned the hard way huh? The golden rule when shopping with MYOB products, go PREMIER or ENTERPRISE for multi-user products. All others are simply single-user. That's the first thing.

Secondly, to interface with MYOB you need an ODBC driver to be installed on your system. Check the CD of the MYOB product you have. Depending on what product it is, there should be an installer program for ODBC presupplied. Simply install that, create your DSN's and presto - connect to MYOB from Access or Excel, Word etc.

There's also documentation about MYOB tables, field names and types etc included.

Cheers.
