I'm *really* new to this subject...

I've searched for ODBC but in all the posts I've looked at everyone seems to know how what to do to get things going:

I'd like to use Java to connect to an Access database and understand that I need to use ODBC, can anyone push me in the right direction? I've looked at the Access help file and followed the link "Set up or change ODBC data sources" which leads me through to Control Panel\Adminstrator\Data Sources; "Microsoft Access Database" is already listed in User Datasources. If I look in the Drivers section the only ODBC driver listed is "Microsoft ODBC for Oracle", should there be another one for Java?

Can I connect to any Access database on my system or does it first have to be registered in the Datasources? As I don't really know what I am doing I don't want to go changing settings, potentially mucking things up...

Does the database have to remain devoid of everything except the tables?
Do the relationships in Access remain in place when accessed from Java?
I presume (expect) that one can't access Forms, Reports, VBA and Modules from within Java but are there any other restrictions?
Is there anything else that I should be aware of that will hinder my usage of an Access Database via Java (apart from my current ignorance of the subject...)?

If anyone can give me some idea of what I need to do or point me in the direction of some clear and easy instructions I'd be grateful.

I've got Access 2003, XP Pro and JBuilder X Foundation.

Hum... I think this might have to start outside Access (after you've done the mdb, of course). I add odbc data sources with a windows app called '32-bit ODBC Administrator'. Using this app, I select witch db to set up as an odbc data source...

???

I would say it's more of a Java question.

Look around for ways to connect Java to Access. I believe you would have more luck in a Java forum.
