I am trying to make changes to the sample Northwind database, specifically to change the colour of form headers from the standard orange to something else but the facility to edit the colour reference in the propery pane seems to somehow have been disabled. I would appreciate help with this.

That northwind is made in a2007. You can edit it there using theme.

Thanks Arnelgp - I've tried themes but the orange back colour seems to be 'locked in' and does not change.

Hi arnelgp
Tried that, but it's not a picture and nothing moves the orange background to the form header. Any more suggestions?

Arnel was correct - its an embedded image.
You should be able to see diagonal shading on the orange colour

Remove that from each form by changing (image) to (none) to the form property sheet

You can then set the header colour to whatever you want e.g.

Whilst I never realised it was a picture, I quite liked the bar in the header where buttons were placed?

I changed mine to a blue background to use in one of my databases.

This was using the Autoformat tool on the Arrange menu?

Hi Gasman

I also favour a mid to light blue for the form header but your comment has me foxed as when I select either the form or the form header there is no 'Autoformat' under the 'Arrange' menu tab. What am I doing wrong?

Of course, you can also change the back style of the buttons from Transparent to Normal and choose a back colour for them

PeteB,

As you can see from my signature I am only on 2007, so it might be hidden elsewhere for other versions?

The AutoFormat is there whether I select the Form or Form Header.
