Numberind Detail items (1 Viewer)

Hi, I’ve got a problem I hope will be really easy to solve…. I am hoping to number the items in a report.
Basically if there are two records in the report detail I would want them numbered 1 and 2 and so on.
Is this possible, if it is could someone please help!!!
