where the heck is it????? dead set all i want is the syntax and some examples so i can see what the learning curve is on it.... where the heck can i find this documentations? google has never failed me so badly....LOL.

Which ODBC driver? (and to be sure, for what context?)

linking accountright19 (latest myob version) and access 2007 - in READ ONLY CAPACITY ONLY. just want to run some tests on sample databases to see if it will work for us and all that before we commit to dev - SURELY there is some help file, documentation for syntax etc... is it all sql based, do u just link tables and use ado...???

I'm sorry. I'm confused.

Is AccountRight19 a software? Or is it "MyOb" the software you're wanting to linnk? What is it? Do you know for a fact either are ODBC-compliant or OLEDB-compliant? That's the very first question you need to answer before you know it's feasible to link the tables.

ok this is a little confusing - the latest version of myob is called AccountRight19 though really myob lol. pretty much a marketing thing far as i can tell. myob produces and supplies its own ODBC driver but can't find documentation for it - if u buy expanded dev pack it should come but doubt i need that the free version can do just cant find the documentation for it.

on a personal note-i use this forum a lot and am constantly amazed and pleased and speed of response and helpfulness - u guys rock!

Oh okay, so it's an accounting software named "MYOB". The "AccountRight19" sounded like a table name and that confused me.

Looking quickly, it seems they don't have an online documentation of the ODBC driver; it's supposed to be included in the download package:

http://help.myob.com.au/prem6/win/impexpfield-19.htm

Furthermore, looking at this page:

http://www.virtualmerchant.co.nz/docs/vm_guide_odbc.jsp

It seems to be quite simple in configuration. I don't think there's a way to tell it to operate in read-only mode, unless you can configure the MYODB application to create a read-only user and only use that for the ODBC link.

HTH.
