So do I need to put the mdlGlobaVariables code in the onclick event of the command button that opens the report?

mdlGlobalVariables is the name of the module. Within that I'm using Get/Let properties to retrieve/assign the value to the variable declared in the top section.

You can use TempVars in place of that if you wish.
