If an Access database has been converted from Access97 to Access 2000 can it be opened again in 97 at a later date?

If you're planning to make changes using 2000...I would not convert back to 97. It's amazing how touchy Access is about converting between versions.

I'm not saying don't do it. I'm just saying that if you made changes be ready to loose them or prepare to recreate actions. I've been jumping around between 97, 2000, and XP(2002) because of the different versions that our clients use, but it's not fun to have to convert and loose some of the data or functionality that you're worked so hard to create.

yes that is true though, be careful and allways backup ur database.

down grading is allways dangerous because as things advance they change dramatically.

good luck

I have done this previously with success but I had to change the libraries under tools refrences since they both use different libraries. I found the switchboard would not run for me until this was done. If you remeber to do the above and you haven't used any of the advanced features (axtivexcontrols) in access 2000 you should be ok.

Open your db in design view go to tools menu, database utilities, convert database, to prior ms access version. Now open your database on the pc you have access 97 on and it should open for you.
