Solved Access not displaying properly (1 Viewer)

I am reposting this from another forum. I have never re-posted like this, but they said they do not know the solution to my problem.
I am using MS Access 2003 on Windows 10. I have been running this for several years now with no problem. Within the past few months all my Access DBs do not open properly. I don't know if I accidently hit a switch, or if some other program is interfering with access. All my Access DBs are accessed through VB6. I have no problem adding data, or reading data from the DB though VB6.


Normally when I open a DB the DB window is displayed as shown in the should be,jpg. However, I now get what is shown in the broken.jpg. The only way I can get the DB to open properly is to walk through the "Open" menu on the "File" Menu tab.

I hope I explained it properly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Opening Access

Basically the navigation pane does not appear and I think it needs someone still using Access 2003 to check where the settings are since I can't remember. Does it have file>options? Or perhaps under the view or tools option?

I had already checked on a 2003 VM. It has Options under the Tools menu

I am unable to find a setting that would explain this issue
I think the database window (as it was called in A2003) has been moved off screen as I have done in the above screenshot.

OK, so if it off the screen, how do I get to it?

I found this under tools/Startup.
In the second column "Display Startup Window" is checked. NOTE: You can only get to this when the DB window is visible. When the window is not visible the "Startup" o n the Tools menu is not enabled.

OK so you have your solution.
Hold the Shift key down whilst you open your database to bypass startup conditions.
The Database window will appear.
Now go to Tools...Startup and tick Show Database Window.
When you next open the database normally, the database window will appear.

Do this for all affected databases and remember not to untick the checkbox in future!

OK. I did what you said. I held the shift key down and opened the DB. No DB window. The Startup item on the tools menu was not enabled.

CTRL/F6 switches to a database window.

But I found an Ac2003-specific article.

Looks like F11 should be helpful.

Maybe it is in a wrong position because of some display metrics?
Do you have a different monitor or resolution as before? Or did you change the scaling?
Or did you use a second monitor in the last time and now it isn't connected any more?
Just guessing because it seems to be so weird...

The problem has to be with my pc. I have a shared folder, on my computer, with another computer. The shared folder has an .mdb file. On the other pc, I can open the file properly. On my pc, I cannot.

no display metrics were changed. Samae monitor. Never had a second monitor.

I'm going to try another approach. I will assume the Acces of ok. That something else with the system is the problem. I'll get back to you.

Create a new, empty database. The db window should be visible.
Import all the objects from the old database.
Fix the start up properties.

What does that mean? Do you not see the database window when you open Access and create a new database?

I see see the database window when you open Access and create a new database.

It is when I open an existing DB I do not see the DB window.

Did you follow my directions? The directions are telling you how to easily recreate your database, hopefully without the problem.

What EXACTLY did you do that "didn't work"?

Open a new DB
Click on FIle, click on New
at Right side of form click on blank database
A pop up form displays - locate where you want to put the new DB
enter DB name and hit "Create"
A DB window opens.
click on File, Get External Data, click Import
Navigate to the DB where the data is you want to get, click import
A window opens with table from the import FROM DB
Select a table, click OK the table is now imported into the new DB
Verify the data by opening the table.
Close the new DB
Open the New DB
DB window does NOT display

If nothing else works, try uploading a simple database with no confidential data so someone can test it on another machine

BTW when you open asn existing database, do you see a horizontal or vertical scrollbar as in my screenshot from post #3
