Hi,

i have recently created a database on access 2002 and have been able to open an edit version by pressing shift whilst clicking on the file icon. I am trying to open it in access 2003 (office) but can't open an edit version using the same shotcut.

Does anyone know the shortcut for opening an edit version in access 2003??

thank you for reading this

It should not make a difference since Access 2002 and Access 2003 both share the same file format. Actually, you can not create a true Access 2003 file, the choice is Access 2002/2003. The location of the msaccess.exe file will be in a different location based on the install [for each version of Office].

i want to EDIT the file

I have transfered a database i wrote on access 2002, in the format of access 2000, to a computer running access 2003.

I can open the file perfectly well but i can't edit anything (tables queries etc) as i stipulated that you shouldn't be able to. On my computer i can edit the database by holding shift down when i click on the db icon. However when i transfer the database to the new computer the same short cut doesn't work.

I am asking how you get into edit a database when you have stipulated that usually you can't.

I feel your pain, Jed.

I'm having the same problem trying to access Office2000 format mdb's w/ Access2003. What's the deal here? Is this a new "security" feature or what?

Open Access by itself (don't double-click the DB itself to open Access). Then, in Access, use the File -> Open, browse to the file you want, and hold shift at that point before clicking on Open. That will open it without running the AutoExec stuff or the startup form.

aw, swell!

 NEATO!!!

Muchas gracias! This is uber-helpful.
