Opening a form with sensible values

Hi all,

I've designed a stock control form which enables the user to view stock bought and sold simutaneously. I have a combo box at the top of the form to select the item the user wishes to view. Then, on two seperate subforms, I have records of stock bought and sold.

The thing works fine, but when I open the form in the first place, the combo box is blank and the data shown on the subforms doesn't correspond.

What I need is for the form to open and show the data for item no 1.

Any ideas??? Thanks in advance

So the combo box is not bound and you use it as a filter or parameter for the record source for the main form?

From what I'm seeing, no.

How do you get the main form to limit the record source to what you select in the combo box? Do you use the combo box as a filter? Or is it a parameter in the underlying query?

Oh, now you've lost me. I only have a limited understanding of Access and only got the box to work in the first place using the Wizard!

Could I perhaps send you a cut-down version of the database by email so you can have a look at what I've done? Then you can find the answers to those questions, and you'll be able to steer me in the right direction.
