Hi All

I hope somewhere here might be able to answer what should be a simple question!

We are a Corporate Outlook user so we have all our emails on Several Exhange servers, i dont think this would be an issue but a bit of background doesnt hurt.

We have designed a custom Task Form that you can use to assign a task to a member of staff which requests certain pieces of work, the user fills in the fields and then assigns the task to the relevant person.

However when the task appears in the other member of staffs inbox the data that was entered into the form doesnt appear. It is totally blank.

We have both published the form in our "Tasks" folder and we can both see it there.

Has anyone got an ideas of what could be happening?

so you send the form to the other person via email? this is interesting to me because i've worked with forms before and the vbscript you use with them, but not sure how to help you on this one. are you sending the form as an attachment or something to the other person on the network?

Hi and thanks for the reply.

The form is designed to be a 2nd tab on a task (In the Task pane view File > New > Choose Form > Look In 'Tasks' (where it is published) and then chose the custom form). You get the standard information as you always do in Outlook on the first tab, but the 2nd tab is the customised form with loads of extra information.

You then assign the task to someone and it gets sent the same way a normal task would within outlook.

I have just played with tasks and assignment from Access - but I have not worked with your forms before.

What does what you have written above mean - does it mean the form is empty but the task is in the persons task list?

After making a task does the creator have the task in his taks list? Or do both the creator and assignee not have the task?

Hi

Sorry for the reply, doing this at work and i dont work weekends :)

The task and the first tab (which is outlook default) is filled in and the task/date is set in the other persons task list as you would expect, its just the custom form that we have designed that isnt filled in.

I have attached a screenshot of the Manage Forms within Tasks, this should explain the sentence above you were asking about. It means it is published in both users Form Manager.

I am sorry moonshine I have no idea how to help you on that. It seems the task is being created and assigned properly but your managed form is not picking up the information from the task.

I also do not know where to start to help as I cannot find that form.

You might try a specialised forum here http://www.outlookcode.com/

Thanks Darbid, i will give them a try.

Everything seems to be working task creation wise it just doesnt hold the data that has been filled in!

That forum I referenced in my opinion is not like this forum because it is run by a MVP. ie no spoon feeding -

One of the questions I would be asking is how to debug and step through your second tab/managed form - I am assuming that when outlook is opening your task this second tab is not picking up the information from the Taskitem and that is the reason it is blank.
