Hi all,
Anyone else having trouble with the inbox time in their outlook after this new time change?
ive updated the hell outta the computer and the timezone change settings, but i cant seem to figure it out. time settings within outlook are right, but recieved emails are an hour ahead.
Anyone else getting this?

Are you using it with POP3 settings or Exchange server? If it is being used with Exchange server the incorrect time may be coming from there, or possibly from the sending machine. I know here we had several problems with our e-mails coming in with the incorrect time stamp and we knew both the sending and receiving machine had been patched and had the correct time. Turned out to be another problem with our e-mail client (Not Outlook/Exchange) incorrectly stamping the e-mails.

pop3. i checked out our webmail and the time is correct on there. so im not sure what is going on with it. kinda blowing my mind. if i look at the sent mail. the time is correct. just the recieved time in the inbox....
did a search on microsofts site. didnt find what i was looking for....

Could still be a problem with your ISP and their Exchange servers giving an e-mail the incorrect time before it gets to your machine. Your sent mail has the correct time because it originated from your machine which has the correct time. It could still be your Outlook but I'm inclined to think it isn't because the incoming mail wouldn't be getting its time from your machine. Sorry I can't be of more help...

THats ok. at least you were kind enough to give a suggestion.. ill have to mess with it more. i saw someone else posted on here with a similiar problem. hope they have more luck than me

It's very likely Outlook...

I got this from the Corporate office:

In order to address time zone changes, this tool will help adjust calendar items in Outlook after the operating system has been updated with new time zone definitions. This tool should only be applied to those individuals that have there Calendar setup in there personal folder and have appointments that are affected by the time change on March 11. The users that have there calendar on the exchange server have already been updated. Make sure before you apply this tool that the updated time zone patch or work around has already been applied to the Operating System.

The tzmove.exe tool must be installed under an administrator account on the customer’s computer. After the application is installed login as the user and go to the following directory. Click on tzmove.exe to open the Change Calendar Time Zone Tool.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Office Outlook Time Zone Data Update Tool\TZMOVE.EXE

Once you have the tool open please change Data File to Personal Folders also change Original Time Zone to the Time Zone the customer is located in. Leave the other settings as default and click OK.

Let me know if you need the tool. I have it. It's 8MB so I can't post it here.

That's true but the articles are referring to Outlook calendar items, not mail items which should be already timestamped before coming in to the user's machine. The thing with the calendar items was, I believe, a problem with people who were scheduling (before the new daylight savings time) items for after the new daylight savings time went into effect which could make them be off a bit. Maybe I'm wrong, but we had something similar with our e-mail clients here where if one person scheduled an appointment for a few weeks in advance and their machine had been patched, the appointment would show up an hour off on another user's machine that hadn't been patched. Still wouldn't hurt to check Outlook for an answer but I'm still not convinced that's where the problem is in this case.

Tzmove.exe was no good. updated calendar options thats about all... ive been to microsofts site and dl'd and installed all known updates to both office and xp.. think i may contact my isp tomorrow and see if they know what could be causing it. What blows my mind though is that on the webmail site time stamps are right. i dl them to outlook and boom. theres that hour. thinking its a system problem, but i dont know where to look.
i tried to trick the system but setting the timezone back then adding an hour, but even then the time was off by about 10 minutes. ( just for sh!ts and giggles) and thats syncing with microsoft! so im stumped
