paragraphs in email body

I am trying to provide text in a lotus notes email. and can't get any new lines. it all has to be one string. below is my code:

oDoc.body = "The cat jumped into the car. The car rolled down the hill. the car sank in the pond."

I would like it as:

The cat jumped into the car.
The car rolled down the hill.
The car sank in the pond.

Currently I can only get:
The cat jumped into the car. The car rolled down the hill. The car sank in the pond.
