Hi,

Does anybody know of a way to set up Excel (and Word) so that whenever you open a new document it automatically sets up a footer with the path name on?

I can get it to do this in Excel when you start up excel by saving the correct .xlt in the program folder however I can't get it to do it when opening a new workbork via the 'new' option when excel is already open.

Any ideas?

Cheers

What you would need is to use the personal workbook which is normally hidden until you record macros to it then you can unhide it, and create a macro to add a new workbook and then insert the footer, then add a button to your toolbar and assign the macro to the button.

That should take care of the excel side.

As far word is concerned you would a field for the path and then save as a template, once you add a document based on the template when you save the file to a location all you need to do is update the field in the footer.

That should take care of the word side of your thread.
