picking out text

I am trying to write some code in VB which will go through a block of text stored in a record and pick out a special 8 digit no.

in each record the number appears on the following line

phone 001 3digits/4digits/8digitnumber

of course each time the letters vary but the format is always the same, i.e. it must first find the correct line (i.e. beginning with phrase "phone") and then grab the 8 digit number after the second "/".

Can anyone help ??

Look at the functions Left, Right, mid, instr, instrRev (access 2000). These will allow you to manipulate the data, e.g.
A = left(myText,5)
If A = "Phone" then .......
