Hey Everyone!

I came here hoping to find some inspiration for my latest project. I'm supposed to scan a sample of every label we have in stock (Over 700 labels!) and include them in our Access inventory system. The idea is to be able to click a button and see a picture of any label. Anyway, I digress...

I've scanned about 20 labels so far and it hit me that I'm not even really sure how to integrate these into the system. I've been saving the label pictures (JPEG's) as thier UPC number which is also the Primary Key in my database. I'm hoping this will help somehow as I'm not to keen on manually entering every picture after I manually scan them. (I'm too lazy for that!)

So if anyone has any comments or suggestions that could help, I'd almost assuredy appreciate them. Thanks!

You will want to link to your pictures rather than adding them to the database. Search Access help for Linking Pictures and you should find the help you need. You can also search the MS KB for articles on the subject as well.

Is there anyway of having my form link the current UPC# to the UPC# of the picture in my picture folder? So if record 55568 is being shown, the form will find the picture named 55568? Otherwise, how would I put these pictures into a table to link to my main application?

Thanks for the help!!

In the On Current event for the form you would have something like:

Code:
Private Sub Form_Current()
    myText.SetFocus
    myImage.Picture = "path of picture" & myText.Text & ".jpg"
End Sub

Also, this link...

Sample DB

Has a sample db(last post) that gives you an example of how to link your pictures to textboxes. Then you can set the on Current event to be:

Private Sub Form_Current()
myImage.Picture = me.LinkTextboxName
End Sub
