Hi All,

I am setting up my own business and need a database for my customers. I am new to access But am very pleased with how it has turned out so far with much useful info taken from reading the forum here.

The problem I have is that I have created a notes field on my customer info form that I would like to have time stamped every time we enter a new contact note for that customer so we can see what has been said in the past and update with new notes eg:

27/06/2012. 10:36 Spoke to mr Smith returning paperwork today

28/06/2012 13:50 paperwork received called and thanked Mr Smith

What I have done so far:

Created a table for customers
Created a Form to input their data with various fields from the table
Added a Contact Notes memo to the form (also from the table) called contact notes
Added an unbound text box automatically named text170
In the unbound text box selected after update ... Code writer
In between the two existing lines of text added the code found on an old thread replacing my field names as below

Me.ContactNotes = Me.ContactNotes & vbCrLf & Now() & vbCrLf & Me.Text170
Me.text170 = ""

After doing this I typed into the unbound text field and clicked my save button on the main form thinking this would cause the "update" but it is not appearing in the Contact notes memo just stays in the unbound text box and no time stamp appears either. Where am I going wrong? Does clicking a save button update the record or am I doing something else wrong? Driving me crazy!:banghead:

Please can someone tell me how to achieve this in A VERY BASIC STEP BY STEP way E.G treat me like the idiot I am? PLEASE HELP:banghead:

I would be eternally grateful!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Mark

I would create an extra table for the notes and create a relationship to the customer table, perhaps 4 fields, notesid, date/time contacted, notes, date/time next contact due

then you will have multiple lines of information for each contacted date and notes per customer and also when you are due to contact them next.

Using an Memo field won't accommodate your requirement.

Thanks will have a go at this! Thanks again!
