ok i wasnt sure if this problem can be solved by using a macro or is something i have to do in a form, so thats why iam posting here.

ok what i have is a company details table that has a company ID field that obviuosly makes each company unique in the database. I have also got a Company Waste Wanted table that has the same company ID field which is linked via a relationship between the 2 tables.

ok what i have done is made a form for both tables so data can quickly be entered. on the company details form i have a button thats labeled Waste Wanted and when you click on it it takes you to the waste wanted form. my problem is that the button only shows the information that is related to that company but it doesnt paste the Company ID into the field automatically, so it sometime cuase confusion if the person is not used to the database.

ok to summaries i want to be able to click the waste wanted button to show the waste that each company wants, but i also want it to automatically paste the ID into company ID on the wasted wanted form. A sub form isnt an option, as i need it to be a button.

can you please help? thanks.

I understand what you want to do and think that you need to use the OpenArgs argument within the docmd event procedure of your form.

Hopefully one of the Gurus that inhabit this forum will come to the rescue because I do not know how to invoke openargs (but would really like to know,

Hopefully

Sometimes the simplest ways are the best. Just did not think of that one
