Pressing tab highlight the entire contents of a field

Dear Access Expert

When I tab through adjacent fields, the field's contents becomes totally highlighted. (Black background , white font). I want the cursor to be placed in the left most position (as it currently is) but without the highlighting of all the field's contents.

Is this a MS Access default option?

How can I accomplish the above?

Hi,

you can use the selstart and selLength properties.

As Max said, you can use SelStart and SelLength properties, but you'd have to code each field for this. If you want this as the default behavior for your entire database, goto

Tools - Options - Keyboard

and set the "Behavior Entering Field" option to "Go to start of field."

SelStart and SelLength is probably best reserved for times when you want some fields to behave differently from the default setting.

i agree with missinglinq, if you want this behaviour for your entire database then the Keyboard option is the ideal way.
