Recently I replaced win98se with win2000 prof; ...clean install.

Problem 1: when i try to execute built-in event procedure "duplicate record" (which worked under win98se), access displays: "the expression... produced following error: a problem occured while "app" was communicating with OLE server or activeX control"

The same error appears when i try to execute macro GoToRecord;Next or Previous... (attached to buttons).

Problem2: some controls that manipulate dates and numbers (on forms/reports) now shows error: #name?. - I've had no problems with the same controls before installation of win2000.

btw:
- my Access application is used on desktop PC and notebook - both files are frequently synchronized.
- i'm not familiar with VB programming

Help me please!

References changed - not working.

I hope there is some solution to this problem or should I start (re)programming my app.

Thanks anyway... I'll try to reprogram it - i hope, this will help.

Boyan, I strongly agree with Pat Hartman that you reinstall Office. However, you can "somewhat" emulate that by having Access closed and hitting Start-Run and type:

msaccess.exe /regserver

I promise it's safe.

Also, make sure you didn't lose your ODBC configuration for the DB under ODBC in the control panel.

Also, compile your VBA again. I was told to do this by MS when I upgraded someone from O97 to O2K, who knows? Won't hurt.

Well - i tried to reinstall Office, before I posted to this forum. When I noticed this problem, I thought that there was trouble with NTFS (synchronizing files form fat32 and NTFS) so I completely erased HDDs and reparticioned it and reinstalled win2000 and then office2000... error was still there...

During the weekend I tried to do something about it so I imported all the tables from "corupted" database (under w2000). Then I designed a new form and configured some controls (=manipulating dates and numbers); I checked if it was working... there were no errors (#name?). Then i tried to attach an [event procedure] to combo box ="after update" (=values in combo automaticly updates fields address, postal code, city,...).

Combo box didn't worked... access displayed error: "...while access was communicating with ole server or activeX control"

Thats it... i don't know how to deal with this problem;
- I registered the same references as they are registered in previous version.
- I used only built-in buttons and controls (no custom or additional activeX controls were used)

I hope there IS solution...

I'm very grateful for your help.

P.S. I hope that my english is understandable.

Checked:

References - registered:
- visual basic for applications
- microsoft access 9 object library
- microsoft office 9 object library
- OLE Automation
- Microsoft Jet and replication objects library
- microsoft DAO object library 3.6

ODBC:
- dBASE Files
- dBASE Files - Word
- Excell files
- FoxPro Files - word
- MS Access database
- Visual FoxPro Database
- Visual FoxPro Tables

BTW: how to compile VBA... and what is VBA (visual basic ?something?)

Highlight any form in your db window, click the code button on the toolbar, click debug button select compile and save all modules.
HTH

:-))

I just removed win2000 and reinstalled win me... Then I installed ms office...

My application is working... no changes were made, no additional software installed... It's working.

Windows 2000/access2000 problem is still actual.

bye

Finally...

Solution:
For the people with the same problem: don't even think of installing Norton AntiVirus!

Removal of Norton AV is NOT ENOUGH!
