Hello
This is kind of in link to my previous post 'combo box empty problem' but as the initial issue has been fixed and a new one has cropped up (ain't that always the way)... then I felt it more appropriate to post a new thread to address the new problem.
I am currently designing a Sales Contact Management database, still only a techy in training as not been doing this for long so I would be extremely grateful of any advice / help to point me in the right direction. I have attached my database so that hopefully the following makes more sense....
The issue I am having is on SubFrm_Correspondence which sits at the bottom of Frm_Comany. Both forms run off queries.
The sub form on load will always show the last correspondence recorded (this is uneditable, which I fear could be part of my issue).
I am having problems when trying to create a new record on the sub form. I have added a command button (cleverly) called 'add new' on to the form... the idea being that when clicked the sub form clears (and goes to a new record) ready for the next (new) correspondence to be logged.
At the moment the add new button is working in so much as it does clear the record being shown and presents the user with a blank record. The user is then able to pick a new Correspondence type, and a new contact (with whom the correspondence will relate to), the date and time are automatically filled in. The issues I am having is that when I then go to add the new text in the 'Notes' field nothing types....
I have check the query and that is fully editable...
I have checked the allow edits / allow deletions and tried to change those...
I have made sure there are no record locks on the text box...
The record still saves in both the query and the table (Qry_Correspondence; Tbl_Correspondence) but without the notes section filled in....

I'm confused.com????:confused::o

Have you checked that when changing the record source from the table to a query the control source of the notes textbox is still correct?

Thanks for the suggestion, yes I have checked that; I have also tried deleting the text box (which is a memo field) and adding a new one but no luck again I'm afraid... it still will not allow me to type in it??
:-(

If you temporarily change the record source back to the table, but make no other changes, is the textbox usable?

Yes the textbox is usable if I change the record source back to the table...

Very odd. I have no idea then I'm afraid.

After some experimentation I have found out the following;
The text box is editable if that is the first thing I do (i.e. before picking from the list box or combo box)....
The Notes section is also usable after picking a correspondence type from the list box (but NOT yet picking the combo box)
HOWEVER.... as soon as the user picks a name from the combo box the notes section becomes unusable... so, process of elimination tells me it must have something to do with the combo box... although I don't know what... getting there I think... slowly :-)
Any ideas?

Are there any VBA / macro events on the combobox?

yes, just a 'Me.Requery'
The combo box itself is based on a query... Qry_SearchContact

Thanks for the replies but I have managed to fix this bugglet now... I think the problem was the event on change of the combo box; I had put me.requery - this was stopping me from entering the text; I have now changed that to me.cbocontact.requery and added me.txtNotes.setfocus (although I'm sure the latter hasn't made much difference) and its working perfectly... :-)
Yey, I can go home now!
Thank you for your help :-)
