Hi,

The attached database has a report called The Book. One of the text boxes in that report is called Duty. It should relate back to infomation in the table called Container_Vendor_Information and the column named Duty within that table. For various reasons I had to make some changes to the tables and forms. The report is not pointing back to proper place and I can't seem to get it to work. I have tried going to the control source and telling it where to point but it doesn't pull up correctly.

There must be a way to do this besides me going back and starting the whole report over. How I can get the text box named Duty in the report to give me the data from the Duty column of the Container_Vendor_Information table?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Eddie.

Any thoughts on this? I'm still working on the answer on my side. It is driving me nuts.

Thanks

OK nice and easy
in your report qry add duty into the field options
now you will need to put
[Container_Vendor_Information].[duty]
as you already have a field called duty in your qry
or elete the other duty which is tied to Broker

then use this fromth e field drop down option

naming standards

try not to have spaces in table names
Container_Vendor_Information should be ContainerVendorInformation
otherwise you have to [] everything
or abbrivate to
ContVenInfo no spaces and stay away from numbers
add1 is ok but 1add is not
Access looks at the first charater and sees a number and assumes its going to calculation something

Thank you so much Gary. I knew it had to be something easy like that. I didn't realize that you could add names to the field options. All is working good now.

Thank you for your help.

Banged my head on the wall - when I first came accross this -My access guru slapped me a couple of times and then pointed out PC and systems are simple so treat them as simple you need to tell them what you want, and confusion and they sulk
but I glad this solved it #

remember the naming standard

check the samples on naming of field/tables and forms

it might mean a bit more work at the begining - but sure as hell will save you hours at the end .

You are so correct about the naming standards. I'm fixing them as I go along where I can. In the future I won't name things like this.
