Problem opening an Exel/PDF file on Form

I have inserted an Excel file and PDF file in the design view of the form that I am working on by going through these steps:

Insert-->object-->Create from file(I then went and browse for the file that I would like to insert)--->checked mark the link box and clicked ok

My problem is that when I go into the form view and double click on this excel icon...the excel file will not open. But when I double click on excel in the design view...it opens up my excel file??? This just does not make sence to me for it to open in design view when it should be opening in the form view. Is there anyone out there that can tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong???

Unless there is another way for me to insert a command that when clicked it will allow for a specific excel file or PDF file to open.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Tessie,

You could use a command button with a hyperlink to the file you want and add an image.

I just was playing around a bit, and I think to make a button, image, whatever, ... that hyperlinks to the Excel / PdF / whatever / ... is the only way to do what you want.
It's some kind of avoiding the Problem rather then solving it (if there IS an solution), but that shouldn't make a difference for what you want to do. Or does it?
