Having a problem here after installing 2007. All my previously created databases work fine in 2007 (after clicking the enable, which is a pain, but don't know any other way) When I return to 2002 and try to open the databases I get different errors all something like this on....... "The expression On Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set of events. Whats up here?????

I have found a site here...http://allenbrowne.com/bug-17.html
Mentions this problem, but refers to Vista..... Does the same apply to XP? And which is the best fix?

The problem may because when you opened the db in 2007, it converted it to 2007 version. Suggestion: Open that db back up in 2007 and save it for the 2002 version. That should clear that issue up.

I ran into this issue when I upgraded to 2000 from 98 version.

One of the things I do once I get an upgrade, is to configure each MS suite to save to the last version. Because I know that either other emplyees and/or vendors may not have upgraded yet. Keeps everything running smoothly.

2007 by default does not upgrade the file, but will open it in compatiblity mode. I do know that when I run Access 2007 and then return to 2000 or 2003 on my same machine, it needs to "install" briefly so that certain files are available for that installation. When you run 2002 after 2007, does it go through that "install" process like it should?

Now that you mentioned that, I do recall that happening. It's almost as if MS Office 2007 takes the default position.

One other thing, make sure to go into your Access settings and let the work in Compatibility mode checkbox (or combo - I can't remember which it is) be set. I am at work right now and don't have my A2K7 installation available to remember exactly where the setting is, but I work in compatibility mode always unless I want to explicitly save to the new accdb or accde format.

That would be the combo box. View the attached .jpg. I have mine set to 2002-2003

Bob, I do not think it runs through an install mode.... thou I did see it starting that once.... What I have found is this... Everything works fine in 2007..... But when back in 2002 things arent going so well.... I think I have found the problem, but don't know how to solve it... You can, after playing a while, at least get into the DB in 2002.... If I open the VBE and look at the references... they are for Access 12. 10 is no place in site. I do believe this is the problem, but don't know what the fix is. The install should have been fine...as you know 2007 gives you a choice to keep old versions. Did so.

oh, and to add to this.... I brought this DB into the office today to open it on a machine with only 2002. Works fine and Access 10 is back in the references.....

Before you click Enable you can go to the Allow location area and drop in the directory that you want all Access databases to be allowed. I did desktop and all sub folders and my main work directory. Doing this will stop the Enabling process every time you open the database...
