I tried to compact and repair my database but near the end of the process the following box appeared. I have never seen this before. The database did not compact. What does the statement mean and any ideas as what I should do? Thanks everyone for your help.:)

Sounds like in an event you reference a field named "Description". Compile your code separately and see if that helps. It should highlight the problem line so that you can correct or delete.

No doubt

You no doubt know much more than me and I can understand your answer, but the error has not been there in the past and nothing was done to the database over the weekend except to put in data. The database was successfully compacted and repaired this past Friday. Thanks for looking at my question and if you have any other thoughts, please express them. Oh! I have had problems with this database since we converted it from Access 97 to Access 2000.

If you select Help from the error message what does it tell you?

I'm stumped. Create a new blank db and import everything from your old db into it. That usually will fix any problems that you have.

Hmmm, that old chestnut...

I have experienced this very same problem before, and think it may have been a size issue.

The databases I had this with I was using to re-organise data, and as such was importing and exporting vast amounts (the db's quickly excalated to well over 500mb).

The only solution I found, which may not be appropriate for you, was to delete the contents of my larger tables before compacting.

HTH.

Matt.

Thanks!

When you are in trouble and don't have the answer any ideas are much welcome! I will try each idea.

Wait!

How do you import an entire split database? Sounds easy when you say it but I bet it isn't that simple. Thanks

Simple as pie. Create 2 new db's. Open on and import everything from the old front end to it. Open the other new one and import evertthing from the old back end into it. In the new front end open the Linked Table Manager and recreate your links. Done.
