Problems with a selectquery

Of the following ms access datatable with the name tblArchive

Datum Artnr Qty
01/01/2009 xyz 5
01/01/2009 sss 3
03/02/2009 ddd 1
03/02/2009 eee 4

i use only the field Datum in a selectquery as rowsource of a combobox.
the selectqry is : Select Distinct Datum from tblArchive
The goal is to see each different datum only once , reason why i use Distinct.
However, the result of the query shows each of the datum twice. What's wrong with this selectqry?
I tried also distinctrow, but without success

I would guess your date also has a time component. Try

Select Distinct Format(Datum, "short date") AS DateField from tblArchive
