hello,
at first let me introduce myself, i am Floris and come from Holland.
i am currently doing an assignment with a technical company named AWL. the assignment is to make a database which can save parameters for a laser weld robot.

i will attach the database in this post.

we made a search form with an unbound text box so we can filter our records. the problem is that the advanced search field doesn't work. if we select 2 materials it still shows the records which contain 3 materials.

so what we want is that the search can be filterd.
please just take a look and you will understand our problem.

i hope one of you has a sollution for this problem.

Welcome to AWF !

The problems is with your Excel background.
Access is not the same.
Help yourself and spend 2 hours by reading (on the net) about databases NORMALIZATION.
I'm sure that will change your mind and, as well, your approach.

Come back after you are sure that you have a good understanding of DBs.

Good luck !

We don't have the time to change the database because we are running out of time with our project.
I know what normalization means, but this is not neccesary for the purpose if this database.

So my question is could anyone help me with the search form.

now I have a search form just like stated in this topic:
forums/showthread.php?t=188663

On top of this I want to ad combo boxes which allows the user to ALSO filter thes along with the searchtext.

Can anyone help me?

I simply think that i have to change the expressions listed in the qeury itself but I don't know how

Thanks!

If you're unwilling to normalize, then you may be better off dumping your data to Excel and filtering there. Access simply isn't set up to easily manage unnormalized data (which you should fix after your current time crunch is done).
