can someone plz clarify for me if an order is required to creat your db. for example, what i know the order to be is as follows: table( i have not yet inputted any records because i will do it later when forms are created)>query>form and lastly report.

the problem i am is having is twofold. when i create my queries they do not display data so because the queries dont display data my forms dont display data.

am i experiencing this problem because i didnt put any records in my tables? I am confused about when i need to put the data into the tbles , before or after creating of query or/and form.

I think you simply need to put enough test data in your tables to get your queries, forms and reports to work properly. Then when you get it all working you delete the test data and start putting in the real (production) data...

i was under the impression if you put data in it ruins you autonumbers numbering

Hum... I'm not sure I'd consider it ruining them. It will start the counting but there's no real issue with that as I see it unless you're trying to use them in a way they weren't meant to be used like to indicate how many records you have in a table...

ok... thank you. can you also explain if my facts regarding the order of creating a db is accurate,

also, i like to thank everyone for all the help . in return, i have alway give good reputation comment to all of those have done such. thank you again

I'm not sure there is a certain order to creating table, queries and forms. In general I like to scribble out how everything needs to be designed on a white board. First the tables need to be set up along with their relationship to each other. Then mock up the primary user interface forms based on the tables and the business processes. This is usually an iterative process. For instance while doing a form I may realize the need for another table. It’s much easier to hammer all of this out on a white board than it is to do it in Access. So once I get the tables and basic forms figured out on the whiteboard then I can start actually creating them in Access. I guess as a rule I create the tables first so that when I build the forms they can be bound to the tables and the controls on the form can be bound to the table fields. This is really just a convenience thing though as you can always create a form then create the tables and the re-open the form in design view and bind the table and fields...
