Query DESIGN view - can't edit

Do you ever (first time I see this after years of using Access) open a query that you can't edit at all? All the design buttons are greyed out. No VBA is running. What gives? Thanks!

Can you switch to SQL View from Design View?

I've had many times where the Run button is grayed out (in those moments, I haven't tried to notice about other menus/buttons, but probably they were too?) .... In these instances, it is a matter of Access being very slow. Sometimes it has taken anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes for the screen (which doesn't appear to be frozen, but apparently is somehow still working), to enable all the options. Not sure if this is your case or not.

@Isaac, you bring up a good point. @CedarTree, when this occurs, is it possible that you have another form open (perhaps minimized) with a running timer?
