Hello,

I have two tables. One is a list of clients and the second is for update notes. Each client may have several notes (one to many relationship). What I want is a query that will show each client and there most resent update... but still show the client even if they have no update. When I create a query it only shows clients that have a record in the 2nd table.

Any advice on how to do this?

Kind Regards,

Core

Right click the line that joins the two tables, click Join Properties, select the option that reads something like, "Include ALL records from 'Clients' and only include ...", click Ok and run the query again to see the results.

Thats great, however it does not show the most recent update, any way to sort which one it shows?

Ignore that. I have double checked and it shows a record for each learner per update. I only want the latest update to be shown.

I cannot use imageshack at work. I attached it instead however it has made it a little smaller... text might be hard to read, sorry.

I'm guessing the LatestUpdate field determines the latest update for that record. But for those two records you pointed out, the dates are the same, even the ID doesn't differentiate which one is the most recent update. How would it be differentiated?

I can add the ID or Date field form the notes table.

Does the Date field in the Notes table not correspond to the LatestUpdate date?

Is the LatestUpdate the field titled: "Last Updated" or is it a property?

I added the design view for the query also in the last post.

Ah I thought so :) That field is a grab of the time/date when a change is made. So on the form when ever a change is made VBA updates that field with the date.

So...
Does the Date field in the Notes table not correspond to the Last Update date?
Would the Date field in the Notes table certainly uniquely identify the recently updated record?
