refreshing form data

why o why doesn't my form refresh when i go back to it

I have a form with a list of records
I have button that opens the detail of the record - (works fine)
when i close the detail form the original form is not updated

i tried
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdRefresh
to refresh but didn't work

Refresh is probably one of the most misunderstood methods in Access, even by experienced developers! It is only intended to be used in a Multi-User Environment, and merely shows changes made to those Records, by other users, that were a part of the RecordSet when the Form first opened. It does not show New Records added, nor exclude Records that have been deleted, by other users, since the Form opened.

To display New Records or not display Deleted Records you need to use, as CJ said, Requery.
