Hi,
I created 3 tables, table A,B and C. Table A has a one to many relation with B and works. Table B has a one to many relation with C but this is giving me problems. It's like Access can't see the relation between B and C. When I create an entry in table A, table B sees this but C doesn't. I really don't know how to explain this in English, maybe the attachements are better. Table A= Klanten B=tblBeschikkingen and C=tblZorgfuncties. I also included the access file so you can see it too. I created forms of the tables and put them in one main form "Klanten1".

Thanks for the help.

Database

It seems to work fine. On the table I've just added a record in tblZorgfuncties and it's not come up with any errors.

lzfy,

When you say "when I create an entry in table A, table B sees this but C doesn't", can you give an example of what you really mean here? What is the expected behaviour, and what specifically is happening that is different from expectation?

lzfy,

Ah, I think I see what you are talking about. On the form Klanten1, you have the subform frmZorgfuncties2 bound to the table tblZorgfuncties. This subform has no entry for its Link Master Fields and Link Child Fields properties.

Exactly. So when I add a new entry in table A, C should also be cleared so I can add new data. But that's not the case right now.

This subform has no entry for its Link Master Fields and Link Child Fields properties.
Ok maybe a stupid question but how do I do this? :o

Thanks for the reply btw.

lzfy,

If you want the frmZorgfuncties2 subform to show all Zorgfuncties records related to the current Klanten record on the main form (do you?), then your data structure is such that the Zorgfuncties record will have to include a Klantnummer. That means that this subform needs to be based not directly on the tblZorgfuncties table, but on a query that joins the tblZorgfuncties table and the tblBeschikkingen table. Then you will have the Klantnummer field from the tblBeschikkingen table, available to you in the frmZorgfuncties2 subform's Record Source.

Then, just open the Properties of the subform control, and you can type in the Klantnummer for both the Link Master Fields and Link Child Fields properties.

However, if you want to be able to add new records to the frmZorgfuncties2 subform, it seels to me that you will need to have a combobox for the BeschikkingsId, so you can make sure you enter this correctly, as it is important to honour the relationship here with the tblBeschikkingen table.

Hope this all makes sense...

Thank you so much, this actually worked :)

Gonna test some more to see if everything is ok. Again, thank you :)

Ps. If you ever need help with Photoshop, I'm here to help you :p
