I have spent a long time following help within other threads but cannot get my database to work.
I have taken a screen shot but do not know how to post it to get help--- it was too big
so I will describe.
CustomerID is PK in customer table to customer Id FK in order Table, one to many
The order table ID is a PK
I have linked the primary keys in other small tables to the order table as foreign keys.
What have I got wrong ?
Thanks

That's a very vague statement. What do you mean by your database "doesn't work"?

Did you notice the sticky at the top of the forum?

Thanks, I did see the sticky and I have also looked in google on how to zip a file and have not been able to do so. I seem stuck, and solving one problem seems to lead to another.
I have spent a long time reading other threads and trying to learn and apply what I have learnt so that I do not need to bother anyone.
Perhaps I am at a too basic level?
What I mean when I say it does not work is that I cannot get an order to link to a particular customer. I have tried applying relationships from 'database answers' and studying the northwind database to understand as well as watching videos. I think what I have done wrong is probably too simple.

Don't take my first post the wrong way. You're not bothering anyone here, we're here to help. It's just that in order to help we need to have some specifics about your situation. If you're having trouble zipping a file you can still provide us some specifics about your table structure. For example, a basic table structure for customer orders might look like;

tblCustomers
**********
CustomerID (Primary Key)
FirstName
LastName
Address
City
State
ZipCode
Phone

tblOrders
*******
OrderID (PK)
CustomerID (Foreign Key to tblCustomers)
OrderDate

tblOrderDetails
***********
DetailID (PK)
OrderID (FK to tblOrders)
ProductID (FK to tblProducts)
ProductQty
SalePrice

tblProducts
*********
ProductID (PK)
Description

Is your table structure something along these lines? Once we know the structure and relationships then we can try to get the problem resolved.

Further to Sean's post, there are free video tutorials that deal with a Customer, Order, OrderDetails and Items theme.

These free video tutorials describe the processes of data modelling, normalization and entity relationship diagramming. There are other videos, but this group is by the same presenter and covers an example situation.

Thanks to you both. I am investigating your suggetions!
I will let you know how I go on. Cheers

I am unable to attach a copy of my relationships as I cannot get the attachment to be valid. Is this something to with being new? I cannot find a way to zip the file. so I will type it out

customer table
customer id Primary key
first name
surname
address
etc
Order Table
orderid
orderdate
customer id-many relationship with primary key above
music id - many to one relationship with primary key of this name in music tickets table
Ticket numbers
Accomodation id - many to one relationship with primary key of accomodation table
Accomodation night
parking bus id -many to one realatioonship withprimary key in parking table

I have 3 small tables music, accomodation and parking each with 3or4 fields, linked as above

when I type in an order on a form made from the order table, the order for a customer does not stay constant. The customer id comes up with a scroll where I select a customer, and their surname appears in the id box. but i seem to be able change this, even though saved thus mixing up orders!
Help help! Ive got 12 hours to solve this otherwise I run out of time.
basically i have customers who can buy tickets for a music festival, but also accomodation and parking and bus tickets. It runs for 3 days!

This is usually pretty simple. What version of Windows are you using?

That's going to be difficult if we can't see your database so we know what you've got going on.

What version of Windows, not Office.

In Windows 7 all you have to do is right click on the file and go Send To > Compressed Folder.
