Am using a access template for stock control and the supplier field has changed from text to numbers. Can you tell me why and how to cure it

I am using Access to control our stock (supplier, part number etc) On the table for inventory is a column for supplier, taken from supplier table, until a few days ago the supplier column displayed the suppler name, we had to recover the database and now the suppler column just shows a number, which is the same as the ID number for the supplier in the supplier table, how can I get the supplier name back into the supplier column?

First of all it is a very bad practice to expose a table to the users.
Second, I think that is OK if that field show the Supplier ID. This ID will be used later, in a form, as Control Source for a combobox.
