Hello. First, I apologize for sucking so bad when it comes to writing reports with MS Access. :)

Second... I have a question/problem.

I have a report that returns three types of people, that are grouped into three sections. I have a report that looks like this:

And the first group of folks come out great - all the persons are listed with their info and pics.

Then the second group is broen out, and shows as the "group by" conditions are met... like this:

...which shows the next group listing of just managers, and as I hoped the Title ("managers") is showing and then begins the next row of records...

BUT the NEXT group shows like this, with a space - almost like an extra cell is being inserted into the report:

Can anyone tell me why that extra space is being added below the third image's group title ("assistant peeps")? Why is there a space, almost like a blank record being added in the beginning of the section?

Sorry about the silly images - I photoshopped the images to keep my employer happy about not giving away pics of our personnel - but anyway - this is how the report is formatting, and I don't know why.

Why the extra space by the second group???

Help! :)

Thanks!

I can't see your pics as you have posted them to a site that is blocked by my employer, but I'm guessing that in design view you haven't dealt with the group footers properly or scooted your sections up to fit under the controls. I might be able to tell you exactly if you can post the pics just by attaching them so I can see them. But, someone else will likely be able to help too.

Ok, I didn't know I could attach - img1, 2 and 3 attached :)

Thoughts?

Looks to me like your footers are not compressed down. Do you need the footers? If not, just go to Grouping and Sorting and select the group and in the drop down in the bottom part of the dialog select NO for GROUP FOOTER.

Hey Bob,

I did what you suggested, but it doesn't seem to be removing the extra space. I tried not grouping on both of the two footers, and then I tried one at a time - but no joy.

I can't seem to figure out what is adding that additional space... It is almost like the header text string is telling the report to pad out another cell's worth of info... hmmm.

Yes, I did. And it appears effectively the same as before. :(

I can only suggest posting it here then so I can take a look.

I'll see if I can pare down the app sufficiently to post it up. Problems include having a sql server backend, and sufficient confidential info that my boss would have my head if I posted it up. Heh. :)

If I can get you something to look at I'll do so asap.

Thanks so much for your help! I do appreciate it.
