report on string

Hi everyone,

Im doing a report on string field named "designer location" (des_loc) as variable. The value of this field is "7001-Michael Coristine", how can I get only the number like "7001" then put it in a text field. I used form to get the value of this variable and I want to display within the form and later save it in a table. Please advise me how to do it.

I think that the VAL function will give you what you want.
