I have a few reports but I am struggling on choosing the right font for them....I need a narrow font (because my reports are wide, so I have to make the font small) as I'm using dot matrix printer to print......and the reports came out unreadable.....I tried to change the font from the printer....but the results are not good as well......can someone help?

I have tried Arial Narrow, Tw Cen MT Condensed, Sans Serif, Tahoma....but none of these came out readable.......

The attached file was the original report printed out from the previous system.....now the client wanted the same font appear in the reports of the new system......

......thanks in advance....

format

if you aren't already, and if the printer can deal with it (i don't know much about printers (!)), i'd use landscape format paper. Trying to squeeze fonts into an area is never advisable.

alternatively....

we have reporting program that displays records over two lines rather than trying to get everything in one. this narrows the report and its surprising how quickly people get used to the format. then a normal font can be used.

apologies if this is no help.

thanks for taking the time to reply......but the client DO NOT want to change.....they were previously using portrait size....and they WANT BACK portrait size.....:(

moreover, they are using computer form (continuous papers).....if the report prints in landscape, I guess that would be a big problem to read the report.....

bloody clients

is it not an option to change the layout e.g. two lines per record either?

I guess no......
just took a double look on the report....it's not suitable to split it into 2 lines....

the sequence is like this:
StockGroup - StockCode - Desc - DocNo - DocDate - Qty - UPrice - Total

maybe you would have better idea how to split these stuff in 2 lines.....if the client is happy, then the problem is solve.....:).....else......:(

maybe this?

I've attached a pic of a possible format. As I say, people can get used to it quite quickly but they may not be keen at first. The client may need convincing.

I hope it helps in some way. :)
